Yannick Bolasie is nearing a return to Everton’s first team.
Sam Allardyce has told Everton’s official website that fit-again Yannick Bolasie will be “very, very eager” to make his long-awaited return to the first team.
The DR Congo winger has been missing for over a year with a troublesome knee injury but a return to first-team football is on the horizon after playing half-an-hour for Everton’s Under-23s this week.
The 28-year-old was bought for £30 million 18 months ago and had only made 12 Premier League appearances for the Toffees – then under Ronald Koeman – prior to his injury.
With that in mind, Bolasie will be determined to get back as soon as possible, and Allardyce jokes that he’ll have a job on his hands to ‘hold him back’.
He told Everton’s website: “It it good news [about Bolasie]. I think he’ll be very, very eager to get back like every injured player who’s been out for a long time and my difficulty would be holding him back!
Having a winger of Bolasie’s prowess will be a big asset for Allardyce as he tries to reverse the early-season damage inflicted by his predecessor Koeman.
And it’s so far so good, with the Goodison Park club taking four points from two Premier League games that Allardyce has overseen since his appointment earlier this month.
