Liverpool’s success is playing a role in Everton fans not being happy, according to Sam Allardyce.

Sam Allardyce has suggested to talkSPORT that Liverpool’s success is causing problems for Everton manager Marco Silva.

The former Everton boss believes that Liverpool being so successful under manager Jurgen Klopp is a major factor in the Goodison Park faithful wanting more from the team and from Silva.

Liverpool won the Champions League last season and finished just a point behind eventual champions Manchester City in the Premier League table.

The Reds are challenging for the league title again this campaign, while Everton are struggling at the wrong end of the table.

Allardyce told talkSPORT ahead of this past weekend’s game between Burnley and Everton: “There will be pressure from the Everton fans because of two things.

“The position that Liverpool are in, being in the same City, and then it’s about the money that’s been spent. What should the team be doing in their opinion?

“That’s to be challenging a lot higher than Everton are in the league at the moment.”

Improvement needed

Liverpool have a much better and stronger team than Everton, and it is unlikely that the Toffees will be able to catch the Reds anytime soon.

However, given the quality of players that Everton have, they should at least be challenging to break into the top six, and one can understand why the fans are disappointed.

It is imperative that after the two-week international break, Everton put together a run of positive results and climb up the league table.
