Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino watched his side snatch a late winner in the Premier League on Sunday.
Sam Allardyce believes Eddie Howe will not replace Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham because he cannot see him leaving for Manchester United in the summer.
Bournemouth beat West Ham 2-0 on home soil over the weekend and former Premier League boss, Allardyce offered his thoughts on Howe taking a top job in the near future.
“He should get the opportunity [at a top-six club],” Allardyce told Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports on 20/01/2019 on 12:00 pm.
“Whether it comes his way or not, it depends when the next big job becomes available. Then you can say well that’s Manchester United. If it’s not Ole, should it be Eddie?
“For what they [the top clubs] are looking for today, I don’t think any of the English managers will get a top three or four job again.”
Goals on Sunday co-presenter, Chris Kamara then asked, “What about [Eddie Howe going to] Spurs if Pochettino wants to go to Manchester United?”
“He might have a better chance than Manchester United,” said Allardyce. “But I don’t think Mauricio will leave.”
The Telegraph reported in December that United, who are currently without a permanent manager, are willing to pay a world-record fee to land Pochettino in the summer.
At this moment in time, former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in interim charge at Old Trafford and he has led the club to six wins from his first six matches.
Howe’s Bournemouth are currently sitting in 12th place in the Premier League table, but they are three points off seventh-placed Watford.
The 41-year-old has taken the south coast club from the lower ends of the football league to Premier League football after taking charge in 2009.
They earned promotion to England’s top-flight in 2015 and he has secured their status ever since as his reputation continues to grow season by season.
A positive second half of the campaign could see Bournemouth potentially finish in a European place as three points separate 12th to seventh.
