Tosun recently joined Premier League club Everton from Turkish giants Besiktas in the January transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, the Toffees had to pay as much as £27 million as transfer fee in order to secure the services of the Turkey international forward.
The 26-year-old forward is available for Everton’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur away from home at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday evening.
Everton have been crying out for a proven goalscorer since the summer of 2017 following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.
The Goodison Park faithful will expect Tosun to be that player, but Everton manager Allardyce has allayed expectations.
Allardyce told Football365.com: “It is not easy at all, it might not work. It is a massive problem in terms of you are hoping rather than being guaranteed he hits the ground running.
“When you look at the number of players who have been brought into this country from abroad – even in the summer – and not worked, particularly up front, it is a risk.”
Any signing is a risk, a gamble, but Allardyce’s comments are hardly going to boost the confidence of Tosun, especially if he starts against Tottenham.
The 26-year-old has just arrived in England, and he needs to be looked after and shown faith.
While Allardyce’s comments make sense, the former West Ham United and Newcastle United boss should probably have handed it better.
