Everton managed to pick up a 1-1 draw against Swansea City, but Sam Allardyce has faced further criticism.

Sam Allardyce’s latest comments in the Daily Mirror are sure to cause further outrage from Everton supporters, who are already frustrated with his leadership.

Allardyce’s relationship with Everton fans has become strained during his time at Goodison Park.

And the former England boss came in for fierce criticism at the weekend, when Everton took on Swansea City.

Allardyce’s decision to take off Yannick Bolasie and bring on Ramiro Funes Mori, at a point where Everton were only drawing 1-1 in the contest, caused chants to be raised against him.

However, Allardyce continued to ignore his critics and insisted that his changes worked.

“The changes I made worked very well for two reasons: we might have won it in the end with the Seamus Coleman chance and we made sure we didn’t lose it,” he said.

“They go with Abraham up front. We have to protect that, so we protect it with a centre-half.

“But then we shove two up front, Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun, so we can play out of those two and we have to have enough people at the back to cope with what they’re going to throw at us.

“It’s no good us keeping four at the back if they’re going to put five up on the frontline because they want to try to go for the win.”

Allardyce has already been heavily criticised for his defensive approach, and his insistence that his style is effective is sure to cause further frustration among Everton supporters.

There is a growing clamour for Everton to part company with Allardyce at the end of the season, and search for a replacement.

And the 63-year-old is sure to have caused further frustration with his latest controversial comments.
