Sam Allardyce has stated that Tottenham can take ‘some comfort’ from Harry Kane’s injury worry because they ‘coped’ the last time he was on the sidelines.

On Tuesday night, Kane hobbled during his side’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League following a challenge from his England teammate Fabian Delph.

If Kane’s injury is serious or even a little serious then it may well have ended his season given the number of games that are left in the campaign.

But former Premier League manager Allardyce thinks Mauricio Pochettino’s side shouldn’t worry too much about losing their star man because they have proven their worth without him before.

“It is a blow for them, but they coped last time,” Allardyce told talkSPORT. “They didn’t lose a game last time Kane was out. It’s a big loss for them but they can take some comfort from the last time Harry was out for five or six games.

“That man Son seems to come up and play even better when Harry’s not there. His goal yesterday was exceptionally good.”

In January, and going into February, Kane missed four Premier League matches, including a number of domestic cup games for his side.

In Kane’s absence, Tottenham won all four league encounters, with the likes of Fernando Llorente and Heung-Min Son standing out for the North London club.

Given the fact that Spurs are still trying to secure their top-four status and are still in the Champions League then those very same players may need to step up once again.
