Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson scored against West Ham United on Saturday.
Sam Allardyce has stated that Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has been a ‘class’ player for a ‘long, long time’ amid reported interest from West Ham.
The 26-year-old scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season against the Hammers on Saturday afternoon as Eddie Howe’s side secured a 2-0 win.
Sky Sports reported earlier this week that the London club want the Cherries man to replace Marko Arnautovic if he leaves for the Chinese Super League.
Former Premier League manager Allardyce offered his thoughts on Wilson and pointed out what the only problem to his game is that could be deterring other clubs from buying him.
“He has been class for a long, long time,” Allardyce told Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports on 20/01/2019 at 11:55 am.
On whether Wilson will be able to do it at a West Ham or Chelsea: “No doubt,” Allardyce said. “It’s two cruciates and people look at that and say do we spend that amount of money on somebody that has had a couple of cruciate ligaments.
“As a goalscorer, he is proven. On the other side of that, his work rate and his hold up play is really good as well.”
Wilson has come through the ranks in the English leagues, having played for the likes of Tamworth, Coventry and now Bournemouth.
He has always had a respectable goalscoring record from League One to England’s top flight, with 70 goals scored in total across three different leagues.
Over the course of the season, Wilson has scored 11 goals in all competitions, but he has suffered a couple of bad injuries in recent years.
In February 2017, the recently-capped England man suffered his second cruciate knee ligament injury in the space of 16 months and will be hoping all his bad luck is behind ahead of a potential big move.
