Celtic qualified for the Europa League last 32 despite losing at home to Red Bull Salzburg.

The excellent Austrian side won 2-1 at Celtic, only conceding to a late penalty in stoppage time.

Salzburg assistant coach Rene Maric was impressed with the atmosphere at Celtic Park.

He sent a tweet after the game thanking Celtic for the hospitality, the event, and paying tribute to the fervent home support.

Celtic won two of their three home games in the Europa League and will be disappointed to have been beaten despite going on to qualify.

A late goal from group strugglers Rosenborg against RB Leipzig put Celtic through, when it appeared they were heading out of the competition.

Celtic are now the only Scottish club left in Europe after Rangers went out, losing 1-0 to Rapid Vienna.
