Newcastle United have today snapped up West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon.

Newcastle United tied up their sixth signing of the summer earlier today as West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon completed his protracted move to St. James’ Park.
The Magpies had already snapped up Martin Dubravka, Fabian Schar, Ki Sung-yueng, Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto to boost Rafael Benitez’s options, but the Spaniard has remained in pursuit of another striker.
A target man has been imperative for Benitez after the struggles of Islam Slimani last season, and he has finally landed West Brom hitman Rondon after weeks of speculation.
The 28-year-old has joined Newcastle on loan for the season, with Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle heading in the opposite direction in a similar move, as the two sides have swapped strikers ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Venezuelan international Rondon may not be the most prolific striker, hitting just 24 goals in 108 Premier League games for the Baggies, but he has the physicality and work rate Benitez is looking for.
Formerly of Malaga, Las Palmas and Zenit St Petersburg, Rondon is on the move after three years with West Brom, as he was always unlikely to stay and play in the Championship following their relegation.

Now, Rondon has taken to Twitter having completed his exit from The Hawthorns, posting a heartfelt message to fans as he told supporters they will forever be in his heart having made him feel welcome from day one.
Rondon added that playing for West Brom has been one of the best experience of his life, and wished the Baggies the best of luck – hinting that he doesn’t expect to return to the club once his loan deal ends, with Newcastle having the chance to turn it permanent.
