Newcastle beat Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon has told The Shields Gazette that he thought Miguel Almiron ‘showed his qualities’ against Huddersfield Town.
The Magpies picked up a comfortable 2-0 win over the 10-man Terriers on Saturday afternoon, with Rondon and Ayoze Perez getting themselves on the scoresheet.
Whilst the pair scored, it was new signing Almiron who made the headlines having dazzled on his St James’ Park debut.
The Paraguayan playmaker joined Newcastle in a club-record deal from Atlanta United on deadline day in January, before making his debut away at Wolves earlier this month.
Rafael Benitez thought it was ideal to give Almiron his first start against bottom club Huddersfield, and he produced an outstanding display.
Almiron hit the post with a first half lob, whilst he also created six chances and had three shots on target in a display which summed up why Benitez was so desperate to sign him.
Now, Rondon has admitted that he thought Almiron showed what he’s all about, praising him for always looking to create chances in the final third.

The Chronicle noted last week that Almiron has struck up an early friendship with Rondon, and the Newcastle striker admitted that he and Perez were speaking in Spanish to Almiron to help him, with the trio quickly on the same wavelength.
“It’s not all about individuals, but Miguel showed his qualities,” said Rondon. “It’s a real positive when you’ve got a player like him who likes to run in between the lines. He’s always looking to give you that pass, and for a striker, that’s exactly what you want. He had that one-on-one with the keeper, and was very unlucky, but the most important thing was the part he played in the team getting three points.”
“We were all speaking Spanish together (on the pitch). Miguel’s still struggling to speak English well, and when he does speak, it’s an American kind of English, with different words. So it’s better that we speak Spanish, and I tried to help him, talking to him. Football is a universal language, it’s the same everywhere, and I think we all felt on the same wavelength,” he added.
