Salomon Rondon has insisted that West Bromwich Albion’s current target for this season is to stay in the Premier League, but suggested that the Baggies can have a much more ambitious future goal, the Daily Mail reports.
Tony Pulis’ men have made an inconsistent start to the campaign. Their win over Leicester in their most recent fixture was only their third victory this term, leaving them 12th in the table, just three points above the bottom three.
And the Venezuelan has claimed that keeping their heads above the water is their primary target for the campaign, before suggesting that they can still dream about what they can go on to achieve in future.
“For the team the target is to stay up,” he said, as reported by the Mail.
“For me I don’t like to promise a certain amount of goals. As many as possible, that’s what I always say. Playing in Europe could be a nice ambition for this team.”
With the Baggies enduring a fairly quiet transfer window in the summer, it is hardly surprising that they are yet to put together the kind of run that would leave some suggesting that they can break into the top-half.

However, the form of Nacer Chadli and the performance of fellow summer signing Matt Phillips in the win over the Foxes suggests that the business that they did do in the summer has given them a strong foundation to build from.
And if they can make several more astute signings during the next January and summer window, then perhaps they will begin to look much more like a side that will be capable of challenging for a European spot in future.
