Newcastle United have seen Salomon Rondon impress this season.
Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon has told The Chronicle that the club know what he wants in order to stay permanently this summer.
The Magpies swooped to land Rondon on loan from West Bromwich Albion last summer, striking a loan swap which saw Dwight Gayle head to The Hawthorns.
A big, bustling forward with great work rate and hold-up play, Rondon is the ideal centre forward for Rafael Benitez’s side, and he’s impressed this season.
The Venezuelan has hit seven goals and four assists this season, with three goals and two assists in his last 10 outings.
Newcastle’s problem is that Rondon is only on loan, and whether they are willing to strike a permanent deal for the 29-year-old remains to be seen.
Fans are keen to see Rondon stay, and the ideal scenario really is for Gayle and Rondon to both make their moves permanent after successful seasons respectively.
Rondon has now admitted that he has spoken to Newcastle and made it clear what he and his family ant in order to stay, adding that he will ‘100%’ stay if it’s on the table.
The Chronicle recently reported that a mystery Premier League club wanted Rondon in January, but the striker himself doesn’t think it was a possibility, especially given the complications of terminating his Newcastle loane.
“They know what I want and what my family want,” said Rondon. “I have spoken with them and made it clear. If there is an opportunity for me to be here – I’ll stay here 100%. If not I will say thank you to everybody and see what happens next.”
“I don’t think so. I was focused on games in December and January as there were many, many games. I have left it all to my agent,” he added.
