Salim Lamrani has spoken highly of Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi on Twitter.

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s former translator Lamrani has praised the 31-year-old following the announcement that he has suffered a long-term injury.

As stated on Leeds’s official website, the right-back suffered an ACL tear during the Championship game against Derby County at Pride Park Stadium this past Sunday.

After undergoing scans on Monday, it seems that the Swiss – who can also operate as a left-back or as a central defender – will be on the sidelines for nine months.

Lamrani has raved about Berardi after the announcement from Leeds, as shown below in his post on Twitter.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Berardi has made 13 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds this season.

The defender made 12 starts and three substitute appearances in the league for the Whites last season, providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

As reported by Leeds Live, Berardi is out of contract at Leeds at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen if the club offer him a new deal despite the defender set to miss most of the 2020-21 campaign.
