Valencia may have no choice but to let Liverpool linked wonder-kid Ferran Torres leave the Mestalla this summer though Los Che skipper Dani Parejo is desperate to see his young team-mate stick around, speaking to Movistar.
If Valencia were already likely to lose their 20-year-old star at the end of this season, it is fair to say the global health crisis, and the subsequent financial problems that have arisen across Europe, has not helped matters.
According to Goal, the reigning Copa del Rey champions have already offered Torres the chance to become one of their highest earning players, only for the Spanish U21 international to reject fresh terms thus far.
As a result, Valencia may be forced to sell the jet-heeled winger with Liverpool making contact recently, Sport1 claims.
And Parejo knows that one of Spain’s best supported clubs do not have the financial firepower to match their rivals with Torres expected to be imbued with offers from a host of European giants sooner rather than later.
“For us, it would be important for Ferran Torres to continue (here). We would be delighted, but the decision is his. Football is the way it is and the players stay and others leave. I hope he stays, but if not, I wish him luck,” said a long-serving playmaker closing in on a decade at the Mestalla, as translated by Estadio Deportivo.
“Ferran for Valencia is an important player, young and with a great future. He has great talent and he shows it.
“(But) the whole issue of the (global health situation) can affect the economic issue of the clubs and Valencia has its salary limitations.”
Something of an old-school winger who loves nothing more than racing down the touchline in a cloud of chalk, Torres has produced six goals and seven assists during a fantastic breakthrough season in La Liga.
