Mohamed Salah has fired a subtle warning to Liverpool’s domestic and European rivals.
Liverpool lifted the Carabao Cup on Sunday following an 11-10 penalty shootout victory over Chelsea at Wembley.
It was the Reds’ fifth trophy since Jurgen Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in autumn of 2015.
But Salah is evidently hoping to follow it up with more silverware this season.
The 29-year-old reacted to the win on Twitter in the early hours of Monday morning, writing simply: “One down.”
Exciting
Klopp has labelled Liverpool players ‘mentality monsters’ in the past and, well, this is evidence that the German manager was absolutely correct.
For Salah to subtly suggest that the Anfield outfit have bigger plans this season, within hours of lifting the cup, illustrates his elite mentality.
And he could be right in saying that the Carabao Cup isn’t the final piece of silverware Liverpool clinch this season.
Klopp’s side are six points behind top-of-the-Premier League Manchester City with a game in hand, making the gap potentially three points – and they still go to the Etihad Stadium in April.
Not only that, but the Reds have one foot in the quarter-final of the Champions League too after winning a first-leg 2-0 at Inter Milan earlier in February.
Liverpool could potentially win a treble of trophies come May and if Salah’s mentality is shared by everyone else in the dressing room, you wouldn’t back against them.
