Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Garth Crooks bizarrely hit out at Mohamed Salah when writing his Team of the Week segment.

The BBC pundit was actually discussing why he had included Thiago Alcântara in his Team of the Week, after the Spaniard scored his first goal for Liverpool.

However, Crooks oddly rounded off his Thiago segment with the following sentence.

He wrote: “Mohamed Salah only seems interested in the Golden Boot and I think that is having a negative effect on some of his teammates.”

That’s just extremely unnecessary, and also pretty nasty, from Crooks.

In the very same game, Salah assisted Sadio Mané for the opening goal, which nullifies the BBC pundit’s point completely.

In all competitions, the Egyptian has assisted five goals for his Liverpool teammates, while scoring 29 himself in 47 appearances.

Of course, that might make him seem greedy on paper.

However, it is worth remembering that Mané only has 14 himself and Diogo Jota is Liverpool’s third-highest scorer with 12.

It certainly hasn’t been a campaign in which Roberto Firmino and Mané have been firing on all cylinders as usual, so plenty of chances created by Salah have gone to waste.

That point is proved by the video below.

As you can see, Salah has laid on many chances for his teammates this season that have not ended up in the back of the net.

If it wasn’t for the ex-Chelsea forward, Liverpool would probably be in the bottom half of the Premier League this season.

Salah gets absolutely nowhere near the amount of respect he deserves.

Let’s see how the Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted to what Crooks wrote…
