Rio Ferdinand has said on his Youtube channel that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is the best player in the Premier League right now.
The former Manchester United defender has said that it hurts him to say that about a Liverpool player.
The pundit has added that he would take Salah at his best for Liverpool over Luis Suarez at his best for the Reds.
Ferdinand said: “This Salah is scoring goals and putting in performances to shoot his team to winning Champions League and league titles.
“As good as Suarez was, he was not doing that. He is the best player in the Premier League right now bar none.
“It’s burning me, it’s burning my chest, talking like this about Liverpool players.”
Best player in Premier League?
Salah is on fire at the moment and is banging in goals for fun for Liverpool.
The 29-year-old – who cost Liverpool £34 million in transfer fee when they signed him from AS Roma in the summer of 2017, as reported by BBC Sport – scored one of the goals of the season so far against Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League at the weekend.
The Liverpool no. 11 has scored six goals and provided three assists in seven Premier League matches so far this season.
The former Chelsea attacker has scored three goals in two Champions League appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
On current form, it is hard to argue against the claim that Salah is the best player in the Premier League.
For Liverpool to win the Premier League and the Champions League this season, Salah will have to continue to bang in the goals.
