The Hammers have one season left at Upton Park beyond the current campaign before they move into their new ground, with Sakho impressed by what he saw on a recent trip to the stadium at Stratford.
“I can’t even imagine it. It’s going to be something unforgettable. The first day that we step out there, we’re going to feel that we’ve really gone to a new level,” said Sakho.
“To go from 35,000 to 54,000 is massive. I think Season Tickets are going to go very quickly this year, that’s for sure.”
The move may still annoy some West Ham fans but it is vital and integral to the development of the Hammers over the next few years.
The increased capacity means higher gate receipts and the exposure that the Olympic Stadium provides will also increase the financial possibilities at the club.
The general atmosphere at the ground could also be more intimidating for away teams, putting them onto the back foot and making it easier for the Hammers to get the edge in big games.
The increased financial opportunities should also provide whoever is in charge at that stage, with the chance to sign a higher calibre and profile of player.
If West Ham invest in their side well and utilise all of the possibilities created by the Olympic Stadium move, they can definitely become an established top six team in the near future.
