Big things are expected from Charlie Patino at Arsenal over the coming years.
The 17-year-old has already made waves with the Under-23 side and there’s a lot more to come.
In fact, journalist Charles Watts, who covers Arsenal for Goal.com, revealed to YouTube in May that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta may elect against loaning him out in favour of a promotion to the senior side.
The shirt number 87 is a significant one at London Colney these days.
Bukayo Saka is Arsenal and England’s next big thing and that was the number he originally wore at the time of his emergence in North London, under Unai Emery.
But interestingly, now it belongs to Patino after the youngster posted a message on Twitter yesterday:
Starboy
There’s no denying that Saka – who impressed at Euro 2020 earlier this week – is Arsenal’s starboy, as the supporters affectionatey label him all the time.
But the Emirates Stadium faithful will hope that similar fireworks await Patino.
Patino, who is a defensive midfielder, is only two years younger than 19-year-old Saka and although the latter has learnt a hell of a lot since breaking into the senior Arsenal squad, he offers similar hope to Patino in the near future.
