Bukayo Saka has sent an emotional five-word Instagram message to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the attacker swapped Arsenal for Barcelona. The ex-Gunners skipper managed to push through a deal on deadline day.

Aubameyang, 32, has penned a contract at Barcelona until the summer of 2025 after competing a free transfer from the Gunners. He had not featured for Arsenal after being stripped of the club’s captaincy.

It comes after Aubameyang returned late from a trip to see his Mother, one of a few instances in which he flouted rules and guidelines in place under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners decided that given his wages, it was time to go.

Now, the striker – who had seven goals in 15 games for the Gunners prior to his move this season – has moved to Barcelona. Saka reacted to the news on Instagram on Thursday afternoon, posting a five-word message.

Saka to Aubameyang: Can he be a Barca success after Arsenal exit?

Without a doubt. While Aubameyang is certainly past his peak, he still has an enormous amount to offer. Moving to a place where he has family, and to a league which is slightly less in terms of quality, he could shine.

Barcelona do have numerous options in the final third. Ousmane Dembele remained, while Memphis Depay joined in the summer. Ansu Fati, Luuk de Jong, and new signing Ferran Torres will also provide competition.

But Aubameyang will score goals in La Liga. Barcelona play in a way that there is little space in behind, and while that might not have suited the Gabonese skipper a few years ago – it is a better fit now.
