Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sent their best wishes to Ben Chilwell on Instagram after he reacted to his devastating injury news.

Ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Ben Chilwell shared that it was ‘always my dream’ to play on the world’s biggest stage, but that’s put to a halt due to the ‘significant’ hamstring injury he suffered during Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

Many were left gutted for the 25-year-old, with Arsenal star and his England teammate, Bukayo Saka, posting praying emojis to the player in the comments section of his IG post, whilst Aubameyang added ‘Speedy recovery bro’.

CHILWELL’S TIME WILL COME AGAIN

Many players before have suffered injuries that have stopped them from playing on the World Cup stage, once upon and time.

It’s cruel because it’s just pure bad luck when that is put upon you, even if you are good enough to play in such a tournament, only for other things to stop you.

Chilwell would have, no doubt, been picked in Gareth Southgate’s squad and he might have even started that first game against Iran.

But one thing the £50 million star (Sky Sports) needs to remember is that he’s not even at the peak of his powers, so his time will come again.

The former Leicester City man is playing on the biggest domestic stage at Stamford Bridge, challenging near the top of the table and also playing Champions League football.

When the next World Cup comes around in the USA, he should be playing the best football of his career, so there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be repping his country at the World Cup then.

Until then, Chilwell will have to watch on as England, after reaching the final of Euro 2020, try to go one better and secure a major trophy for the first time since 1966.
