The combative midfielder admits he will never play for the Red Devils, but is happy with Les Verts.
Manchester United are after a consistent midfield option this summer. One name however that has not been mentioned is former French under-21 international Fabien Lemoine.
The Saint-Etienne midfielder has however made it clear he could never play for Manchester United. Lemoine told Le 10 Sport this week that he likes to keep a low profile – so would never consider a move to a team like United.
He stated:
“I took the decision to extend because I have found an environment that suits me. The club trusts me, it gave me the opportunity to express myself on a level that I had never acquired. Despite the exit last season, we continue to fight in Europe.
“There is also some insight on my part: I will never play for Manchester United.”
Lemoine, who recently signed a new contract extension at Les Verts, was essentially stating that he is not the type of player who will ever play for a team like United, but that he is an unassuming and disciplined midfielder who will always give 100% for the cause.
Lemoine is however the type of player United might just need. A consistent performer, but perhaps slightly lacking in overall quality.
This season the 28-year-old has helped his side push for a Champions League place in Ligue 1, featuring 42 times this season and scoring two goals.
He may never play for Manchester United, but Saint-Etienne are certainly pleased to have the former Rennes player on their books.
