West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino is currently training alone in France.
West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino in action
In a personal statement released to the club’s official website, Baggies striker Saido Berahino sent a heart felt message to the club’s fans, after being sent to France to train alone for the last month by Tony Pulis, in a bid to help him regain his fitness.
The 23-year-old has been linked with various deadline day moves away from the Hawthorns, none of which have materialised, leaving the relationship between player, management and fans seemingly close to being untenable.
Berahino has not played for West Brom since their defeat to Bournemouth on September 10th, but the England under-21 international is determined to repay the faith shown in him by the club, explaining how grateful he is for their support, as quoted by wba.co.uk:
“I want to thank the club for its support throughout what has been a period of turmoil for me. It may not have always seemed as if I have appreciated the efforts of everyone here to help me but believe me I do.”
The young striker then went on to send a message to the Baggies faithful:
“I also need to speak directly to the Albion fans. I know many are angry with me and feel I have let down their club. I have to deal with that criticism. But I know from the messages of support I receive there are many who still believe in me I want them to know that I intend to do everything I can to repay that faith while also hopefully winning over those who doubt me.”

Berahino’s contract actually expires with the club in the summer of 2017, and it is quite hard to imagine anything other than a move away from the Hawthorns for the 23-year-old.
If he does come back from France fit and firing on all cylinders, whilst being prepared to put the work in on the training pitch, then who knows what might happen?
Could he still have a future at West Brom? Stranger things have happened in football.
