Sadio Mane has reacted on Instagram to Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Arsenal at Anfield on Monday night.

The 28-year-old, who levelled the scores in the first-half, stated to the Liverpool supporters: ‘What a great performance from the team’.

Mane has now netted in back-to-back Premier League games and he is once again looking like the unstoppable force that guided the club to their first title in 30 years last season.

His speed from a starting position, ability to ghost past players and movement inside that penalty area was too hot to handle for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

During the opening minutes of the game, the Arsenal fans were left livid because they felt the Senegal international should have been given his marching orders for an alleged elbow on Kieran Tierney.

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

But the on-field referee issued a yellow card to the Liverpool player and VAR was happy for the game to continue without the incident being checked on the monitor.

Either way, Mane was smiling at the final whistle because Liverpool perhaps produced their best football of the season so far after being provided an opening day scare against Leeds United.

This is a statement of intent from the champions because, whilst Manchester City leak goals, they have beaten two teams who are looking to get back on the Premier League title race track in heavy-spending Chelsea and their neighbours Arsenal.
