The Liverpool midfielder has struggled to establish himself at Anfield.
Sadio Mane backed Liverpool teammate Naby Keita to come good at Anfield when speaking to reporters yesterday, suggesting that the Guinean knows that he can give more for the team, as quoted by the Express.
The 24-year-old joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth £52.75m, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations on Merseyside.
Keita has shown glimpses of his true ability in recent weeks, however, scoring in consecutive games against Southampton in the Premier League and Porto in the Champions League.
And when speaking to reporters, Mane shared his belief that the powerful midfielder knows himself that he has more to give, as quoted by the Express:
“To be honest I think we have more to see from him. At the moment it is going well for him and everyone is very happy for him. I just talked to him to do what I can but Naby is a big boy so he knows how football can work and sometimes not. He knows that so he is very positive and he knows he can do more.”
Liverpool are currently right in the mix to win both the Premier League and the Champions League this season, and having Keita firing on all cylinders for the run-in will be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Guinea international certainly has the ability, but whether he can showcase that consistently remains to be seen.
