Fred Guilbert stated on Instagram that he is ‘sad’ Jota has left Aston Villa after he agreed to part ways with the club.

Villa announced on their official website that both the player and the club reached a ‘mutual agreement’ to terminate his current contract.

Whilst the Spanish playmaker didn’t spend much time on the Villa Park pitch, it seems he was a popular figure behind the scenes.

After posting an Instagram message about him leaving, a number of players reacted to the message, including the likes of Tyrone Mings, Samatta, Ezri Konsa and Guilbert.

Samatta, who also left Villa this summer, simply wrote: ‘Good luck king Jota’, whilst Mings and Konsa wrote similar messages.

Guilbert wrote a more lengthy message on his Instagram story, as he stated: ‘Sad that you’re gone, my friend. Take care of yourself. You’re a top guy. Love you’.

It comes as no surprise that Jota has left because he simply couldn’t cement his place in Dean Smith’s matchday 18 during his time at the club.

Injuries, a lack of time on the training pitch and a lack of form resulted in his career in B6 hardly getting off the mark.

One big part he did play was in Villa’s first win back in the big time when they beat Everton 2-0 in front of their home fans last season.
