Linked-away Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth has revealed that he’s ‘happy to be back’ in training.

Spurs players returned to training at Hotspur Way last week and Foyth has joined up with his team-mates back in London.

Speculation is rife that Tottenham could sell the Argentina international this summer.

According to Calciomercato, Sampdoria are among the clubs interested in signing the 22-year-old defender, who was signed for £8 million by Mauricio Pochettino in 2017.

But Foyth cut a content figure during Thursday’s training session and posted a photo of himself smiling on Instagram, along with the caption that he was happy to be back.

Here’s how fans of the North London club responded to the message on Twitter:

Pochettino was clearly a big believer in the young centre-back, but it seems Jose Mourinho will need more convincing.

Since Mourinho replaced Pochettino, Foyth has managed just 45 minutes of Premier League football and appears to be way down the pecking order.

The good news is that Jan Vertonghen looks set to leave Tottenham this summer on a free transfer, and it’s also perhaps a positive for the player’s point of view that they might not have that much money to replace the Belgian, which could lead to Mourinho using him a little more.
