Arsenal fans on Twitter are reacting to a story about releasing 10 part-time scouts who unearthed some of the club’s most exciting young prospects.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal have dropped a ‘bombshell’ by parting company with the people who discovered the likes of Bukayo Saka, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson.
The report added that it’s a cost-cutting measure in response to the global health crisis, and that all 10 of them earn £800 per month and expenses.
Here’s how fans of the North London club reacted on Twitter.
The Mirror did add that Arsenal hoped to re-hire the scouts – who were informed of the decision via email – later in the year, but that they’d have to apply for their old jobs.
Although harsh, it is vitally important that the Emirates Stadium side cut as much cost as possible.
It was reported by Goal.com on Thursday that Arsenal could lose as much as £144 million if next season is played behind-closed-doors.
It’s a huge sum of money and therefore cutbacks are going to be inevitable.
