Bernardo Silva has been speaking to Football Daily about all things Manchester City, but he was also quizzed on Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Well, the £43m man was asked about how Arteta’s departure from the Etihad Stadium impacted him and the rest of his teammates.

As you’ll know, the Spaniard left Pep Guardiola’s side after being offered the chance to replace Unai Emery at Arsenal.

Silva said: “When he left, people were sad, because he was someone that we really liked working with and he helped us a lot.”

Clearly, there’s a lot of respect from the Portugal international towards the £96,153-a-week Gunners boss.

It seems Arteta had a real impact at Manchester City, which is pretty obvious as he earned the Arsenal job as a result of his efforts.

As far as we’re concerned, very few coaches are offered a job as big as the Arsenal role despite having no previous experience in management.

Was Mikel Arteta right to leave Manchester City for Arsenal?

Of course, being the main man is better than being an assistant, but was Arteta right to leave Manchester for north London?

Emery left behind a real mess at the Emirates Stadium, and it’s taken Arteta until this point in time to sort it in terms of squad personnel.

Over that two-year spell, his reputation has taken a real hit, and we’re unsure if he would land another job in management if Arsenal sacked him right now.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with his decision to go into management.

However, we feel managing Arsenal was among the hardest jobs in Europe at the time of his appointment, and not the best role he could’ve chosen.

Nevertheless, after putting his stamp on the side in the transfer market, Arsenal finally look like Arteta’s team, rather than a hand-me-down squad.

Only time will tell if he becomes a success from this point on.
