Mark Warburton’s side suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest’s inconsistency plagued them again on Saturday as they fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City at St Andrews.
The result was a fortnight on from Forest’s best performance of the season in thrashing Queens Park Rangers 4-0 at home prior to the international break.
Two weeks between fixtures has the potential to upset form, but this inconsistency has been blighting the Tricky Trees for much of their Championship campaign.

Only twice this season have Mark Warburton’s side strung two league wins together, and they are one of only two sides yet to draw a single league game.
Settling for a point more often away from home does not match Forest’s glamorous City Ground football, but is the key to maintaining momentum in this division.
It is no coincidence that the top five teams in the Championship boast the five best away records, whereas only three of them feature in the five best home records.

Forest only have one less away victory this season than Bristol City and Aston Villa, and the same as Middlesbrough, but their rivals have picked up draws when they have needed to.
Home form is not a problem for Forest, with three wins on the bounce, but they have the worst away defence in the league because they do not sacrifice their attacking principals away from the City Ground.
Should Warburton take a more pragmatic approach to away fixtures, it would help Forest pick up crucial points on the road and sustain the momentum that they need for a playoff push.
