Sammy Lee isn’t the only member of Everton’s new look backroom team with a Liverpool past.

Ryland Morgans, who served for four years as Anfield’s Head of Fitness and Science, has now been appointed Performance Director at the School of Science.

The Welshman arrives at Goodison Park after a short spell at Crystal Palace – where he also worked under the new Everton manager Sam Allardyce – and will continue to hold similar roles with his country’s football association.

After Lee – who spent 10 years as a Liverpool player and three more as assistant to Rafa Benitez – told Everton’s official website on Monday it was “an honour and a pleasure” to have joined the Toffees, Morgans posted his own message on Twitter:

And after some gentle prompting, it is safe to say Morgans will not be following any more Liverpool players through the social media website.

Before Liverpool, Morgans, who has a PhD, was Head of Fitness and Science at Swansea City – where he worked alongside eventual Reds boss Brendan Rodgers – Fitness Coach at Fulham, Head of Fitness at Nottingham Forest and First Team Coach at Northampton Town.
