Ryan Sessegnon marked his Tottenham Hotspur comeback with a goal on Saturday.
Spurs kicked off their pre-season preparations with a 3-0 demolition of Ipswich Town in the North Londoners’ stadium.
And it was the former Fulham star who fired Tottenham ahead, before two more goals from Son Heung-min capped an easy win for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Sessegnon joined the Lilywhites in a £20 million deal last summer but struggled during his first season under Mauricio Pochettino and later Mourinho.
The 20-year-old hadn’t played since February before yesterday, with Mourinho admitting in June that he left him out of squads during Project Restart for tactical reasons rather than injury ones [Football London].
Here’s how Sessegnon reacted on Twitter to his return on Saturday – and how Tottenham fans responded to him:
At 20, he’ll be expected to kick on now for Mourinho.
He’s still incredibly young, but he’s also a £20 million investment and Tottenham are going to want him to start contributing to the cause.
And with Danny Rose potentially leaving, there’s room for someone to compete with Ben Davies next term.
