Ryan Sessegnon has heaped praise on Tottenham teammate Rodrigo Bentancur on Spurs play, after the Uruguayan ace scored his second goal in two games – this time, to complete a superb comeback to win 3-2 over Bournemouth.
Having scored a late equaliser in the Champions League against Sporting Lisbon, Bentancur then netted his third Tottenham goal on Saturday. Target man Kieffer Moore had given Bournemouth a 2-0 lead, scoring a brace.
But Sessegnon started the comeback. A tidy finish, after an incisive pass from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. A second came when Ben Davies rose highest to make it 2-2. Then, following Tottenham’s 19th corner, Bentancur netted.
The ball sat up for the midfielder in the box and normally, the instinct is to smash it towards goal. But Bentancur showed his class, guiding the ball calmly into the roof of the net. A wonderful finish, earning praise from Sessegnon.
“He’s composure at its finest. Rodrigo is a very composed player. I had no doubts that when the ball sat up for him, he was going to guide it into the goal. The win gives us the confidence to go into the Marseille game. Vital to win.”

Bentancur continues to show just how important he is to this Tottenham side. He did not start against Bournemouth, earning a rest with Oliver Skipp included. But clearly, his absence was evident on Saturday afternoon at the Vitality.
A wonderful finish, but it was also his ability to dictate the tempo in midfield. His quality when retaining possession and recycling the ball. It gave Spurs what they needed to gain control of the match and pin Bournemouth back.
There is no doubt that Bentancur will start against Marseille in France on Tuesday night. Spurs have it in their own hands to qualify and a point will see them qualify. But a win is required to see them top the group.
