Teenage talent Alex Kpakpe has taken to Instagram to after completing a move to Rangers this month, underlining at his delight to be moving to Ibrox – and Ryan Sessegnon was among those who responded on his post on Wednesday.
Kpakpe, 18, has joined Rangers after featuring for Chelsea’s Under-18 side on nine occasions so far throughout his career. But he has moved north of the border, with Michael Beale perhaps using some of his old Chelsea connections.
The left-back emerges as the first bit of business Rangers have done this month. The Gers are likely to bring in Todd Cantwell and Tom Davies from Norwich and Everton to aid the first team. Signings are being made for the youth team.
Kpakpe took to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon after his agency had announced his move from Chelsea. The teen defender said he was delighted to be joining Rangers – and posted an emotional, heartfelt message to his old club.

Rangers have a young full-back currently impressing in the form of Adam Devine. He came into the side with Borna Barisic unavailable and Ridvan Yilmaz sidelined with a long-term hamstring injury – even though, he is a right-back.
That will have given Kpakpe hope. Not just because a young defender has made it into the side – as has Leon King of late, and Alex Lowry starting – but because it is evidence that there is a lack of options on the left side of the defence.
So, Kpakpe joins the Gers and is more than likely to start his spell at Ibrox in the B-team. But, he will hope he can break in the first team now and then, with Beale more than open to using youth. Tottenham’s Sessegnon reacted on his post.
