Well, Tottenham Hotspur won’t be re-signing Noni Madueke this summer.
The English winger is one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers after demonstrating his immense potential in the colours of PSV Eindhoven over the past year.
Madueke, who has six goals already this season, is getting better and better and Tottenham had been linked with a £40 million move.
Spurs already had the 19-year-old on their books at one point, but the winger quit as an academy player at the age of 16.
And what a brilliant decision that is looking like now but, in the short term, he isn’t going anywhere after signing a new deal with the Dutch club on Wednesday.
Madueke extended his stay at PSV until 2025 and a number of Tottenham-related figures have reacted on Instagram.
Ryan Sessegnon wrote ‘Congrats broskii‘ in response to Madueke’s Instagram announcement, with Nile John and Malachi Fagan-Walcott also congratulating their former teammate.
Blow
It’s a bit of a blow for Tottenham, it has to be said.
Even re-signing him for £40 million might’ve been the best decision long term because at 19, there’s no telling how good this kid is going to be, which means there’s just no telling how much he’ll be worth over the coming years.
This is a player with absolutely enormous potential and if he maintains this free-scoring form for a lot of the 2021-22 campaign – which is possible – then £40 million will be dwarfed by a much larger valuation slapped on his head next summer.
