Tottenham Hotspur still have high hopes for Ryan Sessegnon, and his loan move to Hoffenheim will hopefully spark his development.
Spurs raided Fulham to sign Sessegnon for £25million on deadline day in August 2019, finally capturing a player they had wanted for years.
However, Sessegnon struggled for first-team action last season. He managed just four Premier League starts and six league appearances in total, as injuries and competition for places set him back.
Jose Mourinho has talked up Sessegnon, but hasn’t played him all that much – and then chose to loan him out to Hoffenheim.
In eight games for the Bundesliga side, Sessegnon has bagged one goal and two assists, and is starting to show his quality once again.
Question marks still linger over his future at Tottenham though. Sergio Reguilon is Tottenham’s first-choice left back, whilst nobody is displacing Son Heung-min on the left flank any time soon.

Some even wonder whether Sessegnon is a ‘Mourinho player’, but that was said about Son, Giovani Lo Celso and many others who have impressed for him at Spurs.
Sessegnon has now told Sky Sports that he is aware of people making those comments, but is determined to prove them wrong by coming back to Tottenham and playing first-team football next year and beyond, believing that he can become a mainstay for Mourinho.
“There are those people that are saying maybe not yet, but my aim is to prove people wrong,” said Sessegnon. “I think I can be a Jose player, of course. It’s all about learning and I will try and go back and push into the team,” he added.
