Ryan Reynolds has made a positive move for a player dealing with a serious injury. He will miss the upcoming match against Birmingham, who haven’t been playing well recently.

Cacace isn’t expected back until after the October international break. Meanwhile, Josh Windass picked up a foot injury during the win over Leicester City, putting his availability in question.

Andy Cannon is another name who has been sidelined long-term and is currently not part of the Championship squad.

Ryan Reynolds’ response to Andy Cannon’s injury

Andy Cannon suffered an ACL injury on February 23 during a 2-1 win over Mansfield Town, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

The midfielder, who has played a role in all three promotions under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, missed the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign because of it.

He hasn’t made his return yet and wasn’t part of Phil Parkinson’s 24-man Championship squad this season.

Speaking on That Wrexham podcast this week, Ben Tozer asked if the owners had reached out to him following the injury.

Cannon went on to explain how Reynolds kept in touch, sending videos to keep his spirits up during recovery.

“Yeah, right away [the owners contacted him],” he said. “You know what they’re like after a game though. You know, if you have a good game or you do well there’s always a message from them.”

“As soon as I did it there were messages from both owners. Then as weeks go by Ryan was still sending videos which is still mad isn’t it?”

“Just funny ones too. One had his daughter in it, where she was pretending to swear and he beeped her out.”

During the podcast, Cannon also gave an update on his recovery and potential return timeline.

The midfielder isn’t expected back anytime soon and even making it by the end of the year would be ahead of schedule.

“Is it six months now? So I’ve got another three, four months. Lucky to be back around December time in training,” he said.

Even once fit, breaking back into the squad won’t be straightforward for Cannon. Ollie Rathbone is set to take up a spot once he’s fully recovered, and Phil Parkinson will almost certainly want Danny Ward included as well when the goalkeeper returns from injury.
