Tottenham Hotspur interim-manager Ryan Mason has told Football.London that Joe Rodon has trained well this week.
Mason has also said that Rodon has been unlucky in terms of not playing for Tottenham under him.
The 23-year-old Wales international was ineligible to play for Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final against Premier League rivals Manchester City last month.
Mason has said that he has wanted to keep the same team since his first game, which was the Carabao Cup final, which is why the youngster has not played.
The Englishman told Football.London about Rodon: “Joe was unfortunate in terms of timing. He was cup-tied for the cup final so the first game I felt it was probably right to have the group consistent for what it was going to be in the next game.
“He’s trained well, done well. All the 21 outfield players have competed in training and it’s made it difficult to pick a team and a squad.”
Rodon joined Tottenham from Swansea City last summer.
The 23-year-old has not exactly had the best of times at Tottenham, but the Wales international centre-back has looked good on occasions.
The young centre-back has made eight starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs this season.
The season is almost over, and Rodon should put it behind him.
The 23-year-old is a better and more mature player after a year in the Premier League, and he should use that to make an impression on the new manager in pre-season.
Mason is in charge of Spurs at the moment, having taken over Jose Mourinho last month until the end of the season.
It is very unlikely that the former Tottenham midfielder will get the managerial role on a full-time basis.
