Tottenham Hotspur interim-manager Ryan Mason has raved about Oliver Skipp in Football.London.
Mason, who was appointed the Tottenham manager last month until the end of the season following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, has said that Skipp is an incredible talent.
The Englishman has also said that the 20-year-old could be at Spurs next season, having spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Norwich City, and believes that he is ready to explode.
The England Under-21 international has helped the Canaries to automatic promotion to the Premier League, and Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber has said that the club want him to stay next season as well.
Mason told Football.London about Skipp: “My opinion may be different to many but I think Oliver Skipp is an incredible talent and one of the most professional guys I have come across in the academy.
“He has had a fantastic season so I’m sure those conversations will be had over the summer. I think Skippy is ready personally, but with these decisions it depends who the manager is and where the club want to go with him.”
Skipp has played a handful of matches for the Tottenham first team in the Premier League.
True, the Englishman is only 20, but it would be better for him if he stays at Spurs next season.
Tottenham will have a new manager in place for next season and beyond, and it will allow Skipp to make an impression.
If the midfielder does well in pre-season training, then he could get the chance to feature regularly for Spurs.
Of course, staying at Norwich and playing for the Canaries in the Premier League would be more comfortable, but if Skipp is to have a future at Spurs, then he should seriously consider trying to establish himself in the first team next season.
