Ryan Mason has posted on his Instagram ‘with the boss’ from Tottenham training.
After a COVID outbreak at the club, the staff and players have since returned to Hotspur Way ahead of their Premier League clash with Leicester City on Thursday.
Antonio Conte added Mason to his backroom staff after he was appointed as Spurs boss and the former midfielder posted a picture of the two in training with a simple caption.
This is a great learning curve for someone like Mason to build up his coaching talents and one day take to the touchline on a permanent basis.
He has already tasted life in the fast lane after Daniel Levy handed him the manager’s keys for a brief period last season following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
Mason wasn’t able to drive Tottenham to the Champions League or even into the Europa League, but the 30-year-old still did himself proud by the performances he produced.
It hasn’t been rosy in the north London garden since then, but that’s why Conte is now in charge and hoping to smooth the bumpy rides Spurs fans have been part of for far too long now.
For the short term, the aim would probably be to, at the very least, get back into the Europa League and if possible the Champions League.
But they will probably feel the latter is a more realistic chance of happening next season, even though Manchester United have opened that door wide open for others to sneak past them.
It doesn’t help Conte’s cause that he now has to deal with a backlog of games, after postponements because of the snow and COVID.
But the fans will be glad that, as things stand, their game at the King Power on Thursday will go ahead.
