Ryan Mason has pretty much confirmed that he wouldn’t be staying on as Tottenham Hotspur boss.

The 29-year-old has been Spurs’ caretaker coach since April after Jose Mourinho’s axing.

In doing so, Mason also became the youngest man in history to take charge of a Premier League game.

And despite his inexperience, the former Tottenham midfielder, who had to end his playing career due to a skull injury, did a decent job.

Mason won four of his six Premier League games in charge of the Lilywhites, with defeats by Aston Villa and Leeds United being the only blemishes.

Mason, whose Tottenham side also lost a League Cup final to Manchester City, has posted a message on Twitter this evening which effectively confirms what everybody already knew: he wouldn’t be considered for the full-time role.

Good experience

This was the youngster’s first football-related post on Twitter since getting the short-term role and it’ll be interesting to see what becomes of Mason now.

He came from coaching Tottenham’s younger players but this experience might whet his appetite for more senior roles in the near future.

He does look to have a promising future as a manager and the way in which he steadied the ship after Mourinho’s absence proved as much.
