Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to win some silverware this season.

Ryan Mason claimed that ‘I don’t see people jumping on that bandwagon’ when comparing Liverpool’s recent lack of trophies to Tottenham’s.

The former midfielder believes ‘all the talk’ within the media is about Spurs needing to lift silverware, but stated that the Reds have lost three finals in recent seasons.

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit top of the Premier League table and are in their knockout stages of the Champions League after losing the final last season to Real Madrid.

The Merseyside club will come up against high-flying Wolves on Monday night as they look to put their name in the hat for the next round of the FA Cup.

Prior to that fixture, TV & radio pundit Mason seemed irked at the unfair criticism Spurs get compared to Liverpool for not winning a trophy.

“They [Liverpool] have lost three finals,” Mason told The Final Word on talkSPORT. “I agree, I think Klopp is brilliant for the Premier League, so is Pochettino.

“It’s just all the talk is ‘Tottenham need to win a trophy, it’s Tottenham, Tottenham, Tottenham’. But Liverpool, on the other hand, they have invested a hell of a lot of money and they’ve lost three finals, but I don’t see the media and lots of people jumping on that bandwagon.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still in every domestic competition this season following their emphatic 7-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup on Friday night.

Spurs will now prepare for the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final clash against London neighbours Chelsea, which takes place at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Added with that, they are also still within a chance of winning the Champions League and are six points behind Liverpool in the table – though neutral supporters would see their chances of lifting either of those trophies as slim.
