QPR midfielder Ryan Manning joined fellow Championship side Rotherham United on Thursday for the remainder of the season.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ryan Manning has joined Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal. The Republic of Ireland U21 international links up with The Millers and is line to feature against Leeds United on Saturday at Elland Road.
Manning rose to prominence under former boss Ian Holloway and has steadily established himself in the Football League after making the move from Galway United in 2015.
The 22-year-old made his QPR debut in 2016 and has gone on to make 33 appearances in the Championship, scoring three goals in the process. His addition at the New York Stadium will certainly come as a welcome boost for the newly-promoted side.
With that in mind, it’s Manning’s likely starting berth in Rotherham’s midfield that’ll potentially benefit the player and parent club. QPR have a number of players ahead of Manning in the pecking order at Loftus Road and it’ makes sense for both parties.

Tigerish in the tackle and with an abundance of energy, Manning can continue to familiarise himself with Championship football and from QPR’s perspective, it’ll benefit them in the long run.
Although Rangers are expected to struggle to some degree this season, allowing Manning to continue to hone his skills at the same level appears to be a sensible decision from boss Steve McClaren.

The former Newcastle United boss has the likes of Josh Scowen, Massimo Luongo and Luke Freeman all ahead of Manning in QPR’s starting XI. Illias Chair, Sean Goss and Jordan Cousins all play central midfield so there’s plenty of cover for injuries and suspensions.
For now, the highly-rated Manning has the chance to get a healthy number of games under his belt and continue to showcase his potential in South Yorkshire and R’s fans will be quietly optimistic he’ll return to W12 a finer player.
