Kent impressed on Sunday as Rangers beat Kilmarnock.
Kent, 21, made his seventh appearance in a Rangers shirt as the Gers progressed into the quarter finals of the Scottish League Cup with a 3-1 win over Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
An Alfredo Morelos hat-trick proved too much for Killie, who had scored through an own goal from new signing Borna Barisic. But Kent believes the side can improve despite going unbeaten in Gerrard’s first nine games.
The Gers have received two red cards since Gerrard took over – Ross McCrorie against St. Mirren and Morelos against Aberdeen – and Kent believes Gerrard should look to consider improving that side of Rangers’ game.
“We’re creating a lot of chances,” Kent said. “Personally, I’d like to be a lot more clinical myself. I’ve had a few good opportunities myself so far. A few of the games we’ve had so far have been difficult.
“Going to 10 men in both league games doesn’t help. I think it could help by sorting the discipline side of things out, with our tackles and stuff. We’re gaining confidence from every game.”
Rangers booked their place in the last eight where they will face Scottish Championship side Ayr United. Celtic travel to Perth to face St. Johnstone, while Hearts host Motherwell. Aberdeen will travel to either Hibernian or Ross County.
The Gers must complete a quick turnaround once again, as they face Russian outlet FC Ufa on Thursday night at Ibrox in the Europa League play-off round, before travelling to Fir Park on Sunday to face Motherwell.
With five wins and four draws including ties against Aberdeen, FK Shkupi, NK Osijek and Maribor, Gerrard will be desperate for two victories this week to give his side a first-leg advantage in Europe and remain ahead of Celtic.
