Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to rumours that Steven Gerrard will be handed a ‘huge’ transfer kitty.

The Daily Record claim that Gerrard has become the highest-paid manager in Villa’s history and it is promised that he will be backed in a strong fashion in the transfer market.

Villa have one of the richest owners in the Premier League – Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris.

They backed Dean Smith during his time at the club, including spending over £100 million when they returned to the promised land.

And it seems as though, come January, Gerrard can dip into the market and the top talents to the club.

Villa fans are excited at his prospect, with some pointing towards the areas that need addressing.

Perhaps the biggest problem area is in midfield and needing that defensive presence in the middle of the park.

A player with a bit of height and physicality, that can produce those no-nonsense displays, is needed at Villa Park.

Added with that, given that Gerrard has left Rangers, it’s understandable that some will feel that he could raid his former club.

Players like Ryan Kent, Glen Kamara and James Tavernier have got a mention, so it remains to be seen how that transpires.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Villa fans reacting to Gerrard possibly being able to spend big in January:
