Glasgow Rangers loanee Ryan Kent has been a revelation during his time at Ibrox, and is not shutting the door on staying.

Ryan Kent has told Sky Sports News (broadcast on 1/5; 14:27) that returning to Rangers is an option for him next season, but admitted that he has no idea where he will be playing his football next year.

Kent has been an outstanding signing for the Gers. He arrived after a couple of difficult loan spells, and appeared to have little chance of salvaging a career at parent club Liverpool.

But he has been inspired for Steven Gerrard’s side, and it is arguably not entirely out of the question to suggest that Jurgen Klopp now may want to have a look at the winger in the summer, while several clubs will probably be contacting the Reds about a potential move.

The Times recently reported that Gerrard would love to keep Kent at Ibrox beyond his current loan spell. And while Kent insisted that nothing has been decided on his future just yet, he did suggest that he was open to remaining with the Gers.

“Your guess is as good as mine at the moment,” he told Sky Sports when asked about his future. “I’m just concentrating on the remainder of this season. Hopefully something will happen in the summer. Whatever happens, happens.”

“Yeah, it could be an option,” he added when asked about staying at Rangers. “It’s something that I’ll go away with my representatives and talk about and see what happens next.”

Rangers have somewhat shot themselves in the foot over Kent’s future. He has done so well during his time in Scotland that there are likely to be some clubs keen on a permanent deal for the 22-year-old, and The Times has suggested that the Gers may not be able to afford signing him on anything other than a loan.

But if they could keep the winger for next season, it would be a fantastic statement of intent from the Gers. And it may well be a deal that other transfer targets take note of as they weigh up whether to head to Ibrox.
