Glasgow Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has told the Daily Express that he has heard that there a lot of ‘strong contenders’ to take over at Ibrox.

Rangers are looking for a new manager following the departure of Pedro Caixinha last month.

At the moment Graeme Murty is in temporary charge, but Rangers are expected to name their new permanent boss over the coming days.

The bookies’ favourite to land the job is Jack’s former boss at Aberdeen, Derek McInnes.

And Jack insists that he would have no problem with McInnes, if the Dons boss did take the job at Rangers.

“I would have no issue with him at all,” the midfielder said.

“I don’t pay much attention to the speculation. You just have to wait and see who comes in. Whoever it will be, will be.

“From what I’m hearing there are a lot of strong candidates, but I try not to worry about that side of it.”

Jack left Aberdeen to join Rangers last summer, in a move which McInnes publicly announced his disappointment about.

Jack has not enjoyed the greatest of starts at Rangers to date, with his fiery temperament already on display.

McInnes is far from the only candidate linked with the Rangers job, with plenty of other names also under consideration.

Steve McClaren has also been linked to the vacant post at Ibrox, but it is not yet clear whether the former England boss is a serious candidate.
