Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has confirmed his interest in Ryan Jack.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes previously told the Evening Express that a move to Glasgow Rangers did not appeal to Ryan Jack.

Jack has been linked with Ibrox for some time, but the rumours that the midfielder could make the switch to Glasgow have heightened after Pedro Caixinha’s admission of his admiration for the Aberdeen man at his latest press conference.

Caixinha has confirmed that Rangers will seek to do a deal for the 25-year-old, who is out of contract at Aberdeen at the end of the season, in the summer.

Yet, McInnes’ comments in April suggest that Rangers may not get their wish if they try to sign Jack.

“[The reports] got brought to my attention and I spoke to Ryan this morning as I normally do at training,” McInnes said.

“He gave me assurances that there has been no contact, that he doesn’t anticipate contact and that it’s not something he’s interested in.

“If he does decide to move on his likely destination will be England. He sees that maybe being his next opportunity if he decides to leave Aberdeen.”

Rangers are known to be looking to make a number of additions, and Jack is likely to be on a long list of transfer targets for Caixinha.

Aberdeen's Ryan Jack

The Portuguese boss is eager to improve the quality of his squad, to help close the gap on Celtic and Aberdeen.

Rangers are actually set to finish behind Jack’s current club this season, as Aberdeen are well clear of them in the Scottish Premiership standings.

Rangers and Aberdeen are also set to meet on Wednesday evening, and Caixinha’s comments about Jack may just have added extra spice to the fixture.
