Midfielder Jack has been handed a new deal by Rangers.

Rangers have handed midfielder Ryan Jack a new contract that sees the Ibrox number eight put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him in a Light Blue shirt until the summer of 2021 – and Pedro Caixinha deserves credit.
Steven Gerrard’s side confirmed on their official website that the 26-year-old had put pen to paper on a new deal that sees him add an extra year to his original contract.
Jack signed a three-year deal when joining the club on a free transfer from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen in the summer of 2017, becoming Caixinha’s second signing.
Caixinha has since been heavily criticised not only for his transfers, but for the club’s lack of style and his comments in the media that completely backfired on the Portuguese manager.
However, he did make some poor signings, in the form of Dalcio, Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera and plenty more. Rangers are still feeling the effects of the latter duo, with their names and wages still on the books.
But one thing Caixinha deserves praise for during his time at Rangers is the signing of Scotland international Jack, who has since become a crucial member of Gerrard’s side at the base of their midfield.

Only injury has prevented Jack from making more than 24 appearances in all competitions this season, and his contract is reward for his excellent form under Gerrard – who has even described the midfielder’s displays this season as “stunning”.
Though Caixinha remains a failure in the eyes of many, and perhaps rightly so, he deserves praise for completing a deal to sign Jack from one of the Gers’ closest rivals.
