Speaking to Rangers TV, Ryan Jack has questioned how he and his team-mates can beat Aberdeen in back-to-back games and then lose at home to St Johnstone.

The Saints inflicted a shock 3-1 defeat on Graeme Murty’s side at Ibrox on Saturday as the Gers were brought back to earth with a bang.

In doing so, Tommy Wright’s outfit ended Rangers’ four-match winning streak, which began on November 29 with a 3-0 demolition of Aberdeen, before the Glasgow side beat them again four days later.

And summer signing Jack admits he is perplexed as to how Rangers can take two high-profile scalps in quick succession and then undo their hard work against St Johnstone, who had lost four of their last six Premiership games before Saturday’s surprise.

“We beat Aberdeen twice and there’s no doubt we played really well,” he told Rangers TV.

“So how can we turn up against Aberdeen, a double header, play the way we played, pretty much played them off the park at times, and then we turn up today and we are just not at it?”

Thankfully for the Gers, Celtic also suffered a shock 4-0 defeat at Hearts on Sunday in a result which ensures that Murty and co remain only five points behind the Hoops.

It was Celtic’s first defeat in 69 domestic games under Brendan Rodgers and fans of the Ibrox club might be feeling that bit more optimistic about a title challenge, which seemed unthinkable a few short weeks ago.
